Session One
Tuesday 3rd November. The Duke, Leamington Spa, CV32 5JS
Yesterday’s Flowers
Formed by longtime collaborators Lucy and Tom Atkins, Yesterday’s Flowers craft dreamy rock that basks in the glow of the early 60s California Sound - via their seaside home of Folkestone.
Their music is filled with nostalgic chords, with a hidden quiet grit from Lucy’s voice weaving between sweetness and snarl, and Tom’s mesmeric, reverb-heavy guitar. Echoes of nostalgic influences such as Fleetwood Mac sit alongside the hazy, melodic sounds of Camera Obscura and Katy J Pearson. The result is a sound that brings together psychedelia, sunny melodies and a rawer edge beneath the surface.
Since releasing their first singles in 2023 and debut EP There’s Only Love in 2024, Yesterday’s Flowers have taken their talent to stages and festivals across the UK, with further live shows continuing to build their reputation as one of Folkestone’s most distinctive new bands.
Zoë Alexandra
Blending indie folk, soul and a sound that is distinctly her own, singer-songwriter Zoë Alexandra writes songs as a form of emotional excavation.
Through her deep and clear voice, raw and confessional stories of heartbreak, change, regret and self-discovery are shared honestly. Zoë skilfully balances intimate songwriting with a powerful vocal delivery, with each performance (accompanied by keys or guitar) given the space to take its own shape. Her music is personal without being overly polished, inviting audiences to fall into the stories and acknowledge their own moments of change.
Headwired
Headwired are a four-piece alternative/indie rock band from the Black Country, and we can’t wait to bring their gritty and energetic sound to Leamington.
Formed in 2023, the band have quickly built a reputation for their high-energy live performances and growing nationwide following. Influenced by the likes of Oasis, The Stone Roses and Arctic Monkeys, Headwired combine the spirit of these classic bands with their own contemporary edge.
The band have continued to build momentum while taking their music to audiences across the UK, including festival appearances, major support slots and a rapidly expanding sold out headline tour.
Roy
A North Liverpool-born spoken word artist, Roy deftly brings life to the characters, contradictions and everyday chaos he writes about. His performances are sharp, funny and deeply human, with his words weaving effortlessly between the comic and heartbreaking.
Roy’s debut collection, Algorithm Party, was published in 2020, followed by Boomerang Process, his second collection of intense, surreal and often hilarious stories from the margins of Liverpool. They have since travelled beyond the page: ‘Loss Is Not Infinite’, originally a piece from Algorithm Party, was turned into a hypnotic track with God Colony. The collection has also been reimagined for the big screen, with the characters now brought to life via film.
A compelling live performer, Roy has built a reputation for captivating audiences with his distinctive storytelling style, and we’re thrilled to have him close the night.
